As usual, when I have the notion to start or re-start a journal or blog, I do everything except actually contribute to the damn blog. I hope you'll forgive my absence, and I'll make a better effort to add my silly little musings to this thing on a regular basis.
A few days ago - as I was browsing Half Price Books - I stumbled upon a well-kept and tantalizingly cheap hardcover copy of Eric Lax's biography of Woody Allen. I have previously read Lax's Conversations with Woody Allen, a exhaustively comprehensive series of interviews that covers nearly the whole of Allen's career, from Take the Money and Run all the way to Cassandra's Dream, which was in post-production upon the book's release. The Woody-phile I am, I devoured every inch of that book, and was excited to find and buy that copy of Lax's Woody Allen: A Biography.
So as I'll be undoubtedly making my fast way through the biography, and in the interest of contributing to this rag of mine, consider this post an introduction of sorts for the weeks to come - I'll be revisiting some select films from the Woodster, with obvious emphasis on some of my favorites (you can expect a long, rambling, and very, very drunk write-up of Manhattan at some point down the line) as well as closing the gaps of his oeuvre as I watch some of his flicks for the very first time.
So check back in soon, and I hope you'll enjoy reading about Allen's flicks as I enjoy watching them. There won't be any specific order in my film selection - I'll merely be grabbing them as I see them.
